Ilkka Paananen Foundation and Mikko Kodisoja Foundation
The Ilkka Paananen Foundation and Mikko Kodisoja Foundation were established in 2015 with a mission to increase social inclusion and equity. The foundations aim to provide children, youth, and families with equal opportunities for a fulfilling life, regardless of background. They support the most promising and ambitious initiatives that build globally scalable, tech-enabled solutions.
The founders of both foundations, Ilkka Paananen and Mikko Kodisoja, are co-founders of Supercell, Europe’s first startup decacorn. Their shared objective is clear: to achieve tangible, measurable change, with a focus on preventive measures that address the root causes of social issues.
Deaconess Foundation
The Deaconess Foundation in Finland works for human dignity. Together with our social enterprise Rinnekodit Ltd., the 155-year-old foundation provides effective social welfare and health services for people in need of special support. The Deaconess Foundation is led by Olli Holmström. As a social foundation group, we are building a more just society. Profits from our operations go for supporting those in the most vulnerable situations.
We have strong expertise in psychotraumatology. Our Centre for Psychotraumatology is a psychiatric outpatient clinic, which assesses, examines, treats and rehabilitates torture survivors. We treat severely traumatised refugees – adults, children, adolecents and their families. We also provide nationwide training and consultation for professionals and organizations working with refugees.
In our work at the Deaconess Foundation people are always at the center of everything. We develop our services together with our clients and partners. Civic activity is a strong feature of our work. Everyone is valuable to us and deserves to be taken into account. We employ 3 200 people nationwide and our combined turnover in 2022 was € 233 million. We are also owners of the Diakonia College of Finland and the Diaconia University of Applied Sciences.
Medicover Foundation
In 1995, Jonas af Jochnick founded Medicover, a high-quality healthcare company. In 2007, the Medicover Foundation was established to fulfill Medicover’s social mission to create a healthier and better world. Through innovative initiatives, the Medicover Foundation actively raises public awareness about health, shares knowledge about maintaining healthy and secure lifestyles, advocates for preventive healthcare, and motivates individuals to prioritize their physical and mental
well-being.
The Foundation champions projects that promote independence, inspire proactive engagement, and encourage personal growth, instilling a deep sense of responsibility for one’s health. Leveraging the extensive expertise and experience of the Medicover Group in the field of medicine, the Medicover Foundation conducts its operations, making use of the available wealth of medical resources.
A key focus of the Foundation is supporting children, youth, families, schools, and seniors, effectively engaging specific communities through internationally recognized preventive, educational, and volunteer programs at a European level. Additionally, the Medicover Foundation, under the guiding principles of Jonas af Jochnick and the Jonas af Jochnick Foundation, provides targeted support to centers and groups in need, reinforcing its commitment to fostering positive change within communities.
Ferd
Ferd is an investment company owned by the fifth and sixth generation of the Andresen family in Oslo, Norway with roots going back to 1849. The vision of the company is that “we will create enduring value and leave clear footprints”. This means that we own and run companies and make financial investments to make a real difference, with the aspiration to be seen as having the values of credibility, spirit of adventure, a long-term view, and team play.
We see our responsibility foremost to society and we take initiatives or support those of others, where we can be additional. We are willing to take responsibility we do not formally have and to take on additional risk in doing so. We are pragmatic about how to make impact, using every instrument from grants to equity, to scale systemwide changes. We have set up structures like Abler Nordic for financial inclusion, having reached 9.2 million people, – 90 % women, been instrumental in launching a development impact bond for Syrian refugees and their host communities, and scaled 30 social entrepreneurs with innovative solutions to give new opportunities to young people and others who are left on the fringe of society.

The Lundbeck Foundation is a Danish enterprise foundation established in 1954 by Grete Lundbeck, a visionary businesswoman and widow of the founder of H. Lundbeck A/S, Hans Lundbeck. The Lundbeck Foundation, lead by Lene Skole, CEO, is still the majority shareholder in Lundbeck A/S in addition to ALK-Abelló A/S and Falck A/S and investor in more than 25 biotech and medtech companies.

The Lundbeck Foundation award each year DKK 5-800 mill in philanthropic grants with the aim of making Denmark a frontrunner in the field of neuroscience by funding Danish-based research that promotes a better understanding of the brain and better prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of brain disorders. We also award The Brain Prize, the world’s largest research prize dedicated to neuroscience, and we have recently launched Neurotorium a web-based platform to provide free access to educational material about the brain and brain diseases.

Ministry of Health of Ukraine
The Ministry of Health (MoH) is Ukraine’s main authority for healthcare regulation, public health policy, and medical system oversight.
As a strategic partner in the Nadija initiative, the MoH is facilitating the integration of the Virtual Hospital into the national healthcare system and supporting its alignment with Ukrainian legislation and care pathways. The Ministry is also coordinating the establishment of the Physical Rehabilitation Hospital within Ukraine’s public healthcare network.
To enhance long-term access, the MoH is developing a national referral system that will connect universities and hospitals across the country to Nadija’s services. In parallel, the Ministry supports the adoption of telemedicine, encourages international research collaboration, and promotes innovation in pediatric trauma care, supporting Nadija’s aim to deliver scalable, evidence-based solutions for children across Ukraine.
Lviv National Medical University
Founded in 1784, Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University (LNMU) is one of Ukraine’s primary institutions for medical education and clinical training.
As part of the Nadija initiative, a new Physical Rehabilitation Hospital will be constructed on LNMU’s campus. Once completed, the facility will be donated to LNMU, which will take full responsibility for its operation. This will be Ukraine’s first university-affiliated pediatric rehabilitation hospital, providing long-term care for children affected by war-related injuries and trauma.
In addition, LNMU will establish the country’s first department for pediatric psychiatry, integrated with the new hospital and the broader Nadija ecosystem.
LNMU is also a key academic partner in the development of Nadija’s Center of Excellence, contributing to joint research, training, and clinical innovation in collaboration with other Ukrainian and international institutions.
Abto Software
Abto Software is a Ukrainian IT company based in Lviv with over 15 years of experience delivering software development and engineering solutions to clients worldwide. The company specializes in complex, high-impact digital platforms across sectors including healthcare, AI, and enterprise systems.
As Nadija’s software development partner, Abto is responsible for building and implementing the Virtual Hospital platform. This includes front-end and back-end development, system integration with Ukraine’s eHealth infrastructure, and ensuring full compliance with national data protection and healthcare regulations.
Abto’s in-house expertise in cybersecurity, UI/UX, and medical software engineering supports the platform’s scalability, user safety, and long-term reliability. The company works closely with Nadija’s international steering group, gaming and mental health experts, and Ukrainian stakeholders to ensure the solution meets the needs of both clinicians and families.
Delta Ukraine
Delta Ukraine, part of the international Delta Group, is a multidisciplinary engineering and real estate consultancy working across Europe. As Nadija’s construction and project management partner, Delta plays a central role in the planning and delivery of the Physical Rehabilitation Hospital in Lviv.
Their scope includes adapting the architectural concept to Ukrainian building codes (DBNs), developing predesign documentation, and coordinating all engineering systems – from HVAC and fire safety to medical technology integration and civil protection planning. Delta also leads cost management, tendering, and BIM coordination, ensuring a streamlined process from early concept to construction.
JKMM Architects
JKMM Architects is a Helsinki-based architectural studio with extensive experience in designing human-centered, award- winning public buildings in the Nordic region and internationally. Their work emphasizes sustainability, functionality, and social impact, particularly in health, education, and culture.
As the lead architect of the Nadija Physical Rehabilitation Hospital, JKMM is responsible for translating medical, psychological, and therapeutic needs into a carefully considered healing environment.
In addition to the physical design, JKMM ensures that the same design language and emotional atmosphere extend into the Virtual Hospital – bridging the digital and physical experience for children and families. Their approach supports a unified and accessible care environment, no matter where or how patients access Nadija’s services.
PwC Ukraine
PwC Ukraine is part of the global PwC network, offering professional services in audit, tax, legal, and advisory. With deep local expertise and international reach, PwC Ukraine supports organizations navigating complex regulatory, legal, and compliance landscapes.
Under the Nadija initiative, PwC Ukraine provides legal advisory services, including the structuring of contracts, compliance with Ukrainian legislation, and strategic legal support for project implementation. Their guidance ensures that Nadija’s operations are fully aligned with national legal requirements and international best practices – laying a solid legal foundation for long-term impact.

Talenom is a Nordic accounting and financial management firm with roots dating back to 1972 in Oulu, Finland. Today, it employs over 1,000 professionals across Finland, Sweden, Spain, and Italy, combining deep financial expertise with a strong focus on digital innovation in accounting and bookkeeping.
As part of the Nadija initiative, Talenom provides professional accounting and financial administration services. Their support ensures that Nadija’s finances are managed with transparency, precision, and compliance – freeing up resources to focus on core humanitarian impact.

Hannes Snellman is a Nordic law firm with offices in Helsinki and Stockholm, advising leading companies, foundations, and public institutions on cross-border legal matters. Known for its commitment to excellence and societal engagement, the firm plays an active role in advancing responsible governance and sustainability.
As part of the Nadija initiative, Hannes Snellman provides ongoing legal and governance support on a pro bono basis. Their contribution helps ensure that the foundation’s operations are legally sound, transparent, and aligned with Nordic and international standards – strengthening the foundation’s capacity to deliver long-term impact.

Deloitte is the world’s largest professional services network, with over 450,000 professionals operating in more than 150 countries. In Ukraine, Deloitte has a 30-year presence and a team of 500 professionals actively engaged in supporting healthcare reform and the development of digital health infrastructure.
As an early partner to Nadija, Deloitte Finland contributed to shaping the initiative’s original concept and feasibility. Drawing from deep expertise in healthcare consulting and hospital system design, Deloitte supported the development of a scalable roadmap for Nadija’s integrated care model.
This collaboration reflects Deloitte’s broader commitment to Ukraine’s recovery – combining immediate support with long-term investment in national capacity-building. Through its work with Nadija, Deloitte contributes to designing sustainable solutions for children’s health and trauma recovery.
Folk Finland
Folk is an independent creative agency founded in 2010 in Finland, known for its strategic brand development, qualitative research, and award-winning communication concepts. With a strong focus on understanding people and translating insights into impactful storytelling, Folk works with ambitious brands and social causes alike.
As a creative partner to Nadija, Folk contributed to developing the project’s early visual identity and messaging. The agency supported the team in shaping the foundational presentation materials and helped clarify and communicate the core narrative to external stakeholders.
The Finnish War Veteran Organisations
Established during and after World War II, the Finnish War Veteran Organisations have spent over 80 years supporting veterans, war widows, and war orphans. With a mission rooted in care, rehabilitation, and preserving the legacy of the wartime generation, their work has been carried out by tens of thousands of volunteers across Finland and internationally.
Drawing on their experience in supporting both physical and psychological recovery from the impacts of war, particularly among children and families, the organisations bring deep insight into long-term trauma care and societal reintegration.
As part of the Nadija initiative, the Finnish War Veteran Organisations contribute their expertise and historical perspective on the civilian consequences of war, including intergenerational trauma. Their involvement ensures that Nadija’s approach is informed by decades of practical knowledge and highlights the importance of building lasting systems of care for children affected by conflict, both in Ukraine and globally.
